Dr Laura Foster
Laura Foster graduated as an oceanographer from University of Southampton, UK. After undertaking a number of research posts looking at the impacts of climate change and ocean acidification, she joined the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) in autumn 2013. She has lead a number of campaigns alongside technical and policy work. This has resulted in legislative changes in the UK such as the introduction of plastic bag charges, micro-bead ban in personal care products and bans/restrictions on some single-use items. Internationally, she has given advice and recommendations to the European Commission and UN Environment Programme on both monitoring of marine litter and measures to reduce marine litter. She is also a member of the Break Free from Plastic (BFFP), a global movement to reduce the number of plastics.
