Matt Kirshen
At 29, Matt Kirshen's precision wit has already earned him an impressive reputation on the UK comedy circuit. His engagingly impish style is shot through with an intelligent and skilful talent that belies his youthful appearance, making him a firm favourite with audiences and fellow comedians alike. In 2007 Matt became one of the top 10 finalists competing in Season 5 of the NBC reality talent show Last Comic Standing. After finding out that he had been chosen as one of the top 10 contestants, he joked, "Being in the top ten feels like getting a massage from a burly man. I know it's doing me good, but I still feel a bit dirty".
Since then Matt has developed quite a fan base in the States and 2008 saw him returning to the US to support Jimmy Fallon on tour. Other international work has included appearances at the Kilkenny Festival in Ireland, performing a series of gigs in Amsterdam, a 2 week run at the Comedy Store in Sydney and he was also invited to perform at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal.
Back in the UK, Matt recently replaced Alex Zane as the new presenter of Channel 4’s ‘Rude Tube’. Added to this he is still a big hit in comedy clubs and festivals all over the country.
Matt’s most recent TV and radio appearances in the UK include ITV’s ‘Comedy Cuts’, BBC’s ‘Late Edition’, ‘Armando Iannucci’s Charm Offensive’ and ’28 Acts In 28 Minutes’. He is also making a name for himself as a writer, contributing to such shows as Channel 4’s ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’, BBC’s ‘Never Mind the Buzzcocks’, ITV’s ‘Headcases’, ‘One Night Only’ and ‘Saturday Live Again’, and the infamous ‘Secret Policeman’s Ball’.
