The Shellac Collective (DJs)

Greg’s Greats
Co-ordinating the Collective for Camp Bestival, Greg has a real passion for 78s! He has been collecting since he was 2 years old and has turned it into a record business with over 140,000 discs for sale. Combining this with over 35 years experience as a DJ,  Greg pulls out his very best Shellac to keep Festival and Club goers jumpin and jivin to some of the hottest Rhythms that the BBC used to forget ! At a rather soggy Bestival last year with the help of his chums, Greg kept the Shellac spinning and the feet a tapping in the Black Dahlia tent for a solid 11 hours whilst the rain bucketed down outside…

Jenny Shellac
A founder member of the Shellac Collective and a regular at the “Walthmstow Wind-up” The Vivacious  Jenny Shellac is an experienced spinner of 78s. Always playing something interesting - Jennys’ 78s cover all styles of music from the twenties through to the fifties… Big band swing by Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller and The Andrews Sisters, classics like Tea for Two and The Lambeth Walk, novelties by Noel Coward and cheeky music hall acts, 1920s flapper favourites, Hollywood movie classics from Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire and Marlene Dietrich… tea dancing foxtrots, quicksteps, blackbottoms and cockney knees ups!

DJ78
(pictured)
Playing an eclectic selection of popular music from the dancebands of the 20's to the rock'n'roll pioneers of the 50's Founder Shellac Collective member, and Bestival favourite, DJ78 makes any social gathering that little bit classier. Looking dapper in his dinner suit and dicky bow, DJ78 can work completely independent of electricity, but for Camp Bestival will bow to the need  to use modern technology to reach the parts that wind-ups alone can not reach!!

Tony Tunes
Piano player extraodinaire, Tony Tunes wowed the come-dancing tent at Bestival last year with his Rockin stomping versions of “The Mess Around” and “Great Balls of Fire”. This was in addition to playing some stonkin 78s in the Shellac Collective’s marathon Friday night DJ set! Tony hosts the Walthamstow wind-up nights in London, where he also runs an amazing Shellac emporium in the Wood Street Covered Market. He will be playing even more of his Tip Top Tunes in The Black Dahlia Tent this weekend to get you moving.
