Alela Diane

Hailing from Nevada City, California singer/songwriter Alela Diane grew up singing with her musician parents before leaving home to travel the U.S. seeking inspiration for her musical journey through life.

While in San Francisco in 2003, Alela began to write her own music and teaching herself to play the guitar along the way and it wasn’t long before the her incredible talent emerged, her songs blending tense, trance-like arpeggios with warm, thick vocals and meditative lyrics about family and nature.

Before long she was invited to perform her first gigs by none other than Joanne Newsom and with her debut album ‘The Pirates Gospel’ winning the Rough Trade shops album of 2007 she enjoyed an auspicious beginning to her career.

This year sees the release of Alela’s second album ‘To Be Still’ which Alela dedicates to “the pines, the river and the ocean deep”, a sentiment that rings true, the album being a collection of vivid celebrations of mother nature and the freedom which she provides.
