River Cottage Family Feasts and Masterclasses at Camp Bestival
We are delighted to announce River Cottage Family Feasts and Masterclasses at this July’s Camp Bestival. The amazing River Cottage team will bring a delicious helping of their hands-on ethical food ethos to the festival, rustling up a little bit of magic at their lunchtime and evening long table feasts. And they’ll be running a programme of free cooking demos across the weekend for the whole family, too. River Cottage’s Gill Meller commented: "We are delighted to be heading to Camp Bestival this summer, to bring a taste of our hands-on ethical food ethos to the festival masses. We will be putting on a programme of free talks and demos that will appeal to the whole family. You can learn how to make your own cheese and smoke your own fish with Steve Lamb, discover how to forage yourself a veritable feast from the hedgerows with John Wright, and I’ll be introducing children and grown-ups to the art of campfire cookery. Alongside these free sessions, we will also be running long-table family feasts in our magnificent Big Hat Tipis. Guests will have the chance to feast on the finest local and seasonal food, with a healthy peppering of foraged fare. We hope you can join us to feast well, and in good conscience.” Serving twice a day, don’t miss one of their celebratory, communal long-table feasts and dine on the most tempting and tasty local, seasonal and sustainable produce Dorset has to offer. Served up in the fabulous River Cottage Big Hat Tipis, the lunchtime and evening menus will feature ingredients from land and sea, all caught, foraged and harvested fresh for the weekend, presented alongside produce from River Cottage HQ and their neighbouring farms. River Cottage’s Executive Head Chef Gelf Alderson will lead the kitchen team and be on hand to welcome you with the story behind each dish. There will also be a few familiar River Cottage faces around over the weekend, such as Gill Meller, John Wright and Steve Lamb. Camp Bestival-goers can join the River Cottage team for a tantalising Lunchtime Feast between 12.30pm-2.30pm Friday to Sunday or you can set yourself up for a night of partying with an Evening Feast between 6pm-8pm. Adult meals are £35, and children’s meals are £15, which works out £100 for a family ticket (2 x adults + 2 x children).
