Captain of the ship Rob da Bank said: “This is one of the most exciting additions to Camp Bestival in its decade sailing the seven seas… yes, shipmates HMS Camp Bestival, a real life mahoosive ship, is berthing smack in the middle of our site with all manner of mayhem. From family raves with me and my 12-year-old son Arlo going back to back, and Fearne Cotton spinning the wheels of steel, to our very first cabaret shows, the good ship is gonna be off its anchor all weekend!” Cruising on the crest of a cabaret wave aboard our mega-boat marvel, day one at sea boasts on board shows including an odyssey of camp singalong greats from The Ginger Johnson Experience and buccaneering contemporary pantomime treats thanks to Pirates of Panto. Expect madcap Afternoon Fun with The Bluecoats, whose array of games on the day could include All Hands on Dec, Massage in a Bottle, Man The Poop Deck, Battenberg Down the Hatches, Gurning Through a Life Ring, and the epic Iceberg Lettuce Titanic Game. And Friday’s early evening disco will see family dancing joy with Fearne Cotton on the flex behind the decks. Saturday at sea adds championship exhibitionism and contests galore to the cabaret fun with myriad sailors, mermaids, sea life and more amazing dressing up high jinks and costumes for the Camp Bestival Fancy Dress Parade! Plus, we’ll have our annual, fiercely fought Pimp My Trolley contest hosted by Sara Cox, the Family Fancy Dress competition and hirsute hilarity with the Beard & Moustache competition. The Ginger Johnson Experience is back with more variety on the ivories, there’s even more Afternoon Fun with The Bluecoats, whose oceanic entertainment may possibly feature shipboard shenanigans such as Anchors A Weigh - Guess the Weight of The Butter, When the Ship Goes Down You Better Be Ready, Mustard Stations, Cruise Ship Talent Contest, Find Your Seat at The Captain’s Table and Rock the Boat. While evening disco action sees the Da Bank Family Rave take centre stage with dancefloor classics guaranteed. On our final day of sail, pantomime purveyors Pirates of Panto return for more audience interaction and storytelling, plus there’s craft in the cabins courtesy of Hat Decorating with Ellen MacArthur Trust.
